It seams
that the custom sounds, although used by tomtom, and although hidden by
tomtom, you can use them, but this is where you may get problems. If
you place the files tesco.ovr, tesco.bmp into your map folder,
when you set up a warning for it, your asked to use a sound file from
the default list of beep and siren sounds. You wont be asked what
image to use, as you have added a a
matching .bmp (Matching means you have the name the same) for example
tesco.ovr would have a matching tesco.bmp
Well that works just right, but now we have a problem with the sound
file, in this case the tesco.ogg . Where to put it ? tomtom will tell
you that any custom sound files must be put inside the "sounds" folder
others will tell you it must go in the map folder, and although iether
will work, you may experence problems. If you have a tesco.ovr
and a tesco.bmp then the tesco.bmp is automatically assosiated
with the tesco.ovr and therfore, if you place the tesco.ogg
inside the map folder, you would expect the tesco.ogg to be
automatically assisiated too ? Well yes and no, the tomtom may say "Is
this the file you wish to use" > "Nothing shown" answer YES and it sets
it up using the correct matching .ogg Answer No and it may even crash
the tomtom :) (720 does)
