So you
have been warned that tomtom will not give any support if you add a
custom POI and associated files. So lets take a look at the 3 files
needed for a custom point of interest;
- tesco.ovr, tesco.bmp, tesco.ogg
The .ovr file is the file that contains the actual locations,
using tesco.ovr as an example one of the locations may look like
this;
"Tesco - Penzance - Branwell Lane","Tesco - Penzance - Branwell
Lane",-5.52470,50.12728
As you can see, it has the name of the store, and at the end the
gps position in latitude and longitude. These are plain text files,
and are not the same as the encoded files used by the tomtom, for
example, tomtom's own POI's like beaches.
Next is the "tesco.bmp" just a small bitmap picture that will
display on the tomtom's screen when a POI warning is given. Lastly
we have the "tesco.ogg" which is the ogg vorbis compressed audio
file
