Lets first
set the record straight, while tomtom are happy to use a third party
audio format (OGG) (Og Vorbis) for all of their sounds and voice files,
they will tell you they do not support "Third party" applications, sound
files, POI's Yes that's right, they don't support POI's either, even
though they are happy to share any you have with others, and even make
them easily available with the sharing function of the latest HOME
program. So they use .ogg files, share POI's from "Third Party" but do
not give any support at all, so the next time you come across a problem,
just remember you wont get support from tomtom. There also seams to be
some confusion of the type of files used in the tomtom, there are
"Voices" and "Sounds" and while they both use ogg audio formats, they
are constructed differently. For example, the "Voice Files" consist of
"2ndLeft.ogg" and "KeepLeft.ogg" etc, but are then made into one large
file called for example "data04.chk" with a "data04.vif" to go with it.
So you make all your voice files into .ogg files, then need a program to
join them all together into a dataXX.chk file. One of the programs that
can do this is "winviftool2"
