RDS TMC
TMC is increasingly developing into a pan-European service which is deemed to represent the future. TMC-based traffic information is permanently broadcast and continuously updated. The information can be called up at any time without the need to adhere to the 30 minute cycles of the radio stations.
Now satelite navigation systems are using this technolargy, when you plan a route, if there is a hold up on that route, the TMC unit will feed this information into your sat nav, which will automatically route you around the problem. The TomTom RDS-TMC Traffic Receiver gets traffic information on the go, to your GO. Traffic Message Channel (TMC) is a specific application of the FM Radio Data
System (RDS) used for broadcasting real-time traffic and weather
information. Data messages are received silently and decoded by a
TMC-equipped car radio or navigation system.
